A while ago I decided to create some mini pattern collections in between bigger projects as quick color and shapes studies. It refreshes my mind and it often gives me lots of new ideas and ways to look at larger pattern designs. I like how many options there are while still using just 3 colors and a 10 x 10cm piece of squared paper.

I'm mostly drawn to geometric shapes and patterns - although I love flowery patterns too. But I rarely sketch flowers or other organic shapes. It usually comes down to stripes, dots, triangles and squares, and don't really have a clue why - so I'm going to challenge myself the upcoming weeks to try sketch some flower patterns; not sure if I will show them here, but let's give it a try ;)

DAILY SKETCHBOOK / to finish or not to finish

I like pattern drawings the most when not finished yet. So it's necessary to take a lot of pictures in between changes, although sometimes you just forget and might not like the end result...

Sometimes I find the back of a colored pattern more interesting than the actual drawing.

Today a simple black&white pattern, love how much you can achieve by just using a pen and doodle some simple lines and shapes.

A lot of doodling, drawing, sketching and thinking has been going on here in my home studio and I've been busy working on a lot of new pattern collections. 

The plan is to share all my work in process on this blog. Hope you like to see my daily sketchbook doodles and collages!
