FRANCE / part two

Here's part two of my holiday memories. Although the weather wasn't that good (lots and lots of grey and rainy weather) we had such a good time in Biarritz, Guethary and Hossegor. We went to an exhibition of Mexican Art in Biarritz, which showed us some pretty cool paintings from 1920-1960, including some work of Frida Kahlo.

VISUAL JOURNAL / lately
Once in a while I take my camera out and go on a walk. I take pictures of whatever gets my attention when I see a beautiful color, shape or pattern. These are my biggest source of inspiration when I start designing patterns. There's so much beauty to find when taking a closer look! I update my tumblr regularly, you can visit my visual journal if you like!

TO READ / stories I've enjoyed this week

Can't believe it's friday already! Seems like the week has just started yet, and there's still a lot to do. As my holiday is in 2 weeks, I like to get as much work done possible, so I'll be able to completely relax while I'm there...
Here are some of my favorite reads from this week. Have a great day!
// Liked the way Anna Delores is starting her mondays and experiences this the best day of the week...
// Hermine is one of my favorite bloggers, just because I adore her textile designs and photography. See what she's working on right now!
// Dana is talking about blogging and the things she has learned, can't read enough about that!
// Discovered this amazing blog from artist Leah Reena, love her work.
// The illustrations of Marloes always make me smile...

TO READ / design & business related posts from great bloggers
This week I've read so MANY great and inspiring blog posts from bloggers I follow, that I would love to share some of them with you guys. There is so much to learn from each other and I just cannot get enough of reading about the business and personal side of artists and designers. How do other artists find their daily discipline to just get to work? How can you grow your business and at the same time stay happy and energized?
/// Garance (this is really one of my favorite blogs!) talks to readers about how to find your own style and stay true to yourself.
/// Do you have a stable design process? Breanna Rose tells us the way she's doing things...
/// Sarah gives advice when you think you've might lost your passion about your work. How to find that spark back again?
/// Michelle (a.k.a. the When I Grow Up Coach) shares her story about how she got of her ass and build her dream career.
What are your favorite reads this week?

WEEKEND TRIP EXHIBITION / Abraham prints - MoMu Antwerp

Last May when I was on a weekend trip to Antwerp, I've visited the MoMu: a really must-see if you love fashion and textiles.
The last time I went was already some years ago, so it was about time to soak up some fashion history.
There was a very interesting exhibition about printed textiles from world famous Swiss firm Abraham. Abraham was a company specialized in printing silks. This exhibition tells the story of their succes during the 1950s and 1960s (working together with famous couturiers Dior, Givenchy, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent) and shows lots of sample books, sketches, photographs, fine silks, screen printing process and much more. Also some famous contemporary designers (Dries van Noten for example) were invited to experiment with Abraham prints.
A must see! Runs till August 11th. More info here!
